The Judge's end-time verdict has already been rendered in the present...You have already passed through the great last judgment when Christ suffered the eternal last judgment for your sins on the cross.

What is Faith and What is Repentance? (Heidelberg and Westminster Shorter Catechisms): via Marissa

Faith: Heidelberg Catechism 21. Q. What is true faith? A. True faith is a sure knowledge whereby I accept as true all that God has revealed to us in his Word. 1 At the same time it is a firm confidence 2 that not only to others, but also to me, 3 God has granted forgiveness of sins, everlasting righteousness, and salvation, 4 out of mere grace, only for the sake of Christ's merits. 5 This faith the Holy Spirit works in my heart by the gospel. 6 1.Jn 17:3, 17; Heb 11:1-3; Jas 2:19. 2.Rom 4:18-21; 5:1; 10:10; Heb 4:16. 3.Gal 2:20. 4.Rom 1:17; Heb 10:10. 5.Rom 3:20-26; Gal 2:16; Eph 2:8-10. 6.Acts 16:14; Rom 1:16; 10:17; 1 Cor 1:21. Westminster Shorter Catechism 86 Q: What is faith in Jesus Christ? A: Faith in Jesus Christ is a saving grace, whereby we receive and rest upon him alone for salvation, as he is offered to us in the gospel. Ephesians 2:8–9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so

Good News! The Dividing Wall Is Gone by R. Scott Clark

"The great sin of Dispensationalism is that it rebuilds what Christ tore down in his own body, on the cross: the wall of enmity and division between Jewish Christian and Gentile. This is clearly seen in the notion of a future rebuilt temple and a re-institution of memorial sacrifices. No, Christ died “once for all” (Heb 10:10). ~R. You May be a Legalist If: …Part 2 By Miles McKee

You may be a legalist if you are a professing Christian but suspect that your salvation has not been secured and guaranteed by Christ. If this is the case, you are likely trying to try to supplement your salvation by your own efforts and righteousness. That means you are a legalist and legalism wants you to focus anywhere and everywhere but on the Finished Work of Christ for your salvation. The gospel, however, brings the death knell to legalism. As gospel believers, we learn to rest entirely in who Jesus is and on what He has accomplished for us in the Finished Work. Shortly after the feeding of the 5,000, Christ was confronted by a group of eager legalists asking, " What shall we do that we might work the works of God?"  (John 6:28). Christ’s reply (verse 29) is very telling.  He responds, "This is the work of God that you believe on him who He has sent."   That is to say, to believe, (rest and trust) on Christ, is to do the work of God.  In other words, i

You May be a Legalist If: …Part 1 By Miles McKee

You May be a Legalist If : …Part 1 You may be a Legalist if.. you believe God loves you, but suspect that He doesn´t like you.    If God was looking at you, right now, and you managed to take a snapshot of His face, what would it look like?  As He considered you, would He be smiling? Or, would He have an irritated frown? Take a moment to reflect on your answer!  What do you believe the Almighty thinks of you? Your response will reveal whether or not you are behaving as a legalist. Legalists, you see, feel that God is continually scowling at them. Try as they may, they just can´t shake off this idea of the disapproving diety. They haven´t done enough, and they know it. They, in their own minds, have earned Heaven´s well-deserved glower. That´s why they are characterised by endless amounts of guilt and self-effort. But, what about us, are we in that camp? Do we, at times, believe the theory that God loves us but, at the same time, because of our lack of performance

The Wednesday Word: Behold your God! By Miles McKee

“He shall feed His flock like a shepherd: He shall gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young” (Isaiah 40:11). Pause a while and think of this verse. It gives us a wonderful picture of the Lord Jesus. Let’s unfold some of its treasures word for word. ‘He’ Who is this ‘He’? He is the Messiah (Matthew 1:1). He is Immanuel; God with us (Matthew 1:23). He is God manifest in the flesh ( I Timothy 3:16). He is the one Who is revealed in the Word of God under a vast array of titles, names, characters and offices. For example, He is, Our Hope – 1 Timothy 1:1 Our Peace – Ephesians 2:14 Our Prophet – Hebrews 1:1-3 Our Redeemer – Job 19:25, Galatians 3:13 Our Rock – 1 Corinthians 10:4 Our Sacrifice - 1 John 4:10 Our Saviour – Luke 2:11 The Supreme Creator Over All - 1 Corinthians 1:16-17 The Resurrection and the Life - John 11:25 The Door – John 10:9 The Way – John 14:6 The Eternal Word – John 1:1

Good News for Bad Christians by Miles McKee

“Christ died for the ungodly” (Romans 5:6) Have you ever thought of yourself as a bad Christian? You look at your life and all you see is flaw after flaw. You fail in your thought life. You fall easily. You don’t read the word or pray the way you could. Here’s some good news, your Saviour does not condemn you for these failures. There remains no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). All of us, no matter in what stage of growth we find ourselves, need to hear the Gospel on an ongoing basis. That's because we forget it on an ongoing basis. We need to remember the words of Elizabeth Prentice who wrote: “The greatest saint on earth has got to reach Heaven on the same terms as the greatest sinner; unworthy, unfit, good-for-nothing; but saved through grace.” To grow in grace, we need to hear about Jesus, His person, His doing, His dying and rising again. We need to be immersed in the truth that Jesus is the God-man…God manifest in the flesh. We need to

William Hendriksen on how to understand the Bible:

"Only when we see how all the Scriptures are centered in Christ, as the revelation of the Triune God, so that in the Old Testament everything points forward to Him, and in the New Testament everything proceeds from Him, will we be able to understand the Bible."

Holiness is not a means to an end—your good works do not save you

"“Holiness is not a means to an end—your good works do not save you. Rather, holiness is part of the end itself—you were saved in order to do good works, “which God prepared in advance that you should walk in them" (Ephesians 2:10). Good works do not achieve salvation (or final salvation-J.F.). Good works are the fruits and results of saving faith." ~Walter Marshall".

Martin Luther-

Martin Luther on how to teach and comfort struggling Christians who are afflicted by their sin: "We, on the other hand, teach and comfort an afflicted sinner this way: “Brother, it is impossible for you to become so righteous in this life that your body is as clear and spotless as the sun. You still have spots and wrinkles (Eph. 5:27), and yet you are holy.” But you say: “How can I be holy when I have sin and am aware of it?” “That you feel and acknowledge sin—this is good. Thank God, and do not despair. It is one step toward health when a sick man admits and confesses his disease.” “But how will I be liberated from sin?” “Run to Christ, the Physician, who heals the contrite of heart and saves sinners. Believe in Him. If you believe, you are righteous, because you attribute to God the glory of being almighty, merciful, truthful, etc. You justify and praise God. In short, you attribute divinity and everything to Him. And the sin that still remains in you is not imputed but is fo

Walter Marshall on the root of true obedience to God

Walter Marshall on the root of all true obedience to God: If you want to obey God’s law (i.e., the pursuit of holiness), “Your heart has to be freely motivated to obey God’s law. . . Some people think that all you need to obey God is a free will. I agree that free will is important, but there is something deeper. They never think about the fact that no one WANTS to do good or obey God. Every human being has a heart that is totally inclined toward evil, not toward good. In your natural [fallen] state, the direction of your heart is completely toward evil. Such a “free will” as this can never free you from slavery to sin and satan, and enable you to keep God’s law! Therefore, stop debating about free will, and get to the real issue: in your natural [fallen] state, all you ever want to do is evil. So, in your natural [fallen] state, that is all you will choose to do. . . You cannot possibly keep the commandments of God if you hate them!. . . True obedience means you love to obey God!.

Justification and sanctification are by faith in the person and finished work of the Lord Jesus. Not by works, feelings, or experiences but by grace alone , through faith alone, in Christ alone --John 6:28-29 Then they said to Him, What shall we do, that we may work the works of God? - Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.--  All things of God flow from a faith grounded in the person and work of Christ Jesus.

How do i know I'm a Christian ? By John Fonville

Can you mend your broken relationship with God?

5. Can you mend your broken relationship with God? No. I have no power to save myself, for sin has corrupted my conscience and captured my will. Only God can save me. (Ephesians 2:1-9; John 14:6; Titus 3:3-7) Ephesians 2:1-9 (ESV) By Grace Through Faith 2 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience- 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body[a] and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.[b] 4 But[c] God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ-by grace you have been saved- 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasura
